Youth

A holistic and comprehensive Youth Ministry program for youth in grades 6-12 is offered at The Basilica of Saint Mary. Catechetical Programs and Youth Group Events take place on alternating Sundays when we work together to learn, share about our faith, serve others, have fun and make the world better!

The Basilica of Saint Mary Youth Ministry works to welcome youth and empower them to be disciples of Jesus Christ through prayer, service, and learning about their faith.

Learning Program Description

The Youth Ministry program of The Basilica seeks to enable youth with a greater understanding of the Catholic Tradition through exploration of the weekly scriptural readings of the Church’s year and the doctrinal elements that flow from those same readings. Youth are invited to consider the significance of those readings and teachings for everyday living. This invitation is accomplished through prayer, reflection, service, and small group discussion.

All sessions are offered on Sundays following the 4:30pm Eucharist. Youth and their families are invited to attend Liturgy and students are invited to stay for the program from 5:30—7:00pm. As the session occurs over the dinner hour, a light meal is provided to the youth at a nominal fee. All are welcome to this program of learning and youth ministry that includes prayer, service, justice-seeking, socializing, examining the rich Catholic tradition, and relationship building.

It is hoped that through these activities, youth will develop a sense of belonging to a larger community and an appreciation for the Tradition of the Church as it relates to the Christian life.
